The Charity received only some £3,846 directly from membership subscriptions, bank interest and social fund raising events during 2005. Members can take advantage of the tax efficient CAF scheme and Gift Aid for paying both membership subscriptions and making donations to events including sponsorship of individuals raising funds for the charity. Members and their supporters are gradually beginning to take more advantage of these two schemes and the funds raised through these schemes have grown (£801 in 2005 and £666 in 2004), and are expected to grow substantially further in 2006 as a result of the decision to use JustGiving.com to raise sponsorship for the charity walk in the Yorkshire Dales. The bulk of the funds which the charity receives comes from its sister organisation, the Woolnoth Society. In 2005 the funds received amounted to £40,558 (£34,169 in 2004) and this change reflects the success of the revised policy towards organising fund raising events with having fewer but better organised events, and with one of the sponsor members of the charity taking responsibility for an event under the overall responsibility of the fund raising event, on which a report then appears on this web site, to keep members up to date.

Overall therefore the funds received by the charity amounted to £45,070 in 2005 (£38,187 in 2004). Included in the funds received from the Woolnoth Society was £5,780 from the Woolnoth Associates (2004 - £11,283). Not included in these figures are funds which Sponsor members contribute directly to other charities or organisations which have sought funding from the charity. These members are unable to contribute funds directly to the charity because of internal company policy guidelines, but they can contribute directly to a designated charity requiring funding and the Woolnoth Society Charitable Trust provides a service in identifying charities and organisations which require support. Total donations amounted to £28,332 (£72,436 in 2004) as a result of the lower funds available for donations. Cash balances at year end amounted to £21,200 (£4,461 in 2004). The charity chose to rebuild its cash balances in 2005 as well as the fact that there were fewer acceptable requests for support which met our guidelines.
