Quiz Night review
The annual JPMorgan hosted Quiz Night took place on 10th May in the splendid Great Hall of the former City of London Boys School, now a JPMorgan building in Victoria Embankment.

This year the event attracted 22 teams of 6 people with name such as IBM's "Does Grey Matter" and "Universally Challenged", "The Thoroughbreds" from LloydsTSB and the imaginatively titled teams from Barclays, "Barclays A" and "Barclays B". It was terrific to see amongst the regular attendees a number of new entrants including the Associates first team the "Pink Panthers" who made an impressive showing.

The man in charge of proceedings was JPMorgan's Richard Fox-Bekerman who stretched everyone's memory to breaking point, particularly in the opening round on Children's Literature where the average score was just marginally above zero, but then who would have thought that Hogwarts motto was "Never tickle a sleeping Dragon" or that Pam Shriver had a husband, let alone an ex-Bond.

At the end it was a close run thing with 5 teams in contention till the very end. Finally "The last of the few" from RBS were triumphant nosing ahead of LloydsTSB's "Dark Horses" to first place.

Overall well over 100 people joined in raising more than £3,500 for the Woolnoth. Thanks go to Virginia Noble and Patty Wallis who did all the work in organizing the evening, Richard for being an excellent quiz master and of course all those who showed up and handed over their hard earned cash. We all look forward to next year.

Martin Cowles.
